Czech elections (yay!), Dutch debates

By accident I have ended up in an Amsterdam internet cafe with a distressingly sadistic view of keyboard layouts. I seem to have here a layout that is not changeable, and further does not manage accents on letters, hence the badly spelled cafe.

At least I can still write coffeeshop.

Mikulas Ferjencik of the Czech Piratska strana writes about my visit in Czech republic. Notes from the conference can also be found at the CPS homepage. Here are the tweets from the conference. The nice location of the conference also made it possible for Austrians, Germans and Serbians to attend. We had originally hoped for Polish participants, but they were hindered last minute.

Czech republic are holding their national elections today! With only 1.5% of the votes will they be receiving state support. The ballots close at 14:00 tomorrow, and I am told the Czech Pirate Party group on facebook just turned into the second largest political party there!

In the Netherlands I have been at Het Grote Downloaddebat featuring Samir Allioui and Professor Hugenholtz, albeit in different panels. Tomorrow, Piratenpartij and me are getting extra airtime on AT1, a local TV station in Amsterdam ran by some of the last bastions of free television in Europe. It makes me look forward to developing and fighting for better spectrum regulations in Europe. If you feel concerned about the limitations of the public/civilian broadcasting space in Europe and its detrimental effects on cultural, technological and social development, also check the Catalunyhan group OkupemLesOnes.

By the way, the Amsterdam public radio & tv broadcast organisation is called 'SALTO' http://www.SALTO.nl http://www.AmsterdamBroadcasting.org

About your Mokum TV link: They are just one of hundreds of programs on the Amsterdam Public Access Channels of SALTO. Mokum TV is cool by the way, they were one of the former pirate-tv stations in Amsterdam before SALTO was founded and we love their shows!

SALTO has 3 TV channels: At5 (most famous and nationally distributed in NL) and SALTO 1 (A1) and SALTO 2 (A2). A1 and A2 are Public Acces Channels. (Mokum TV never agreed on those channel names...) These 'open channels' can be recieved by around 1 million people in the Amsterdam area on analog & digital TV. As well as via web live streams.

We hope the Pirate Parties support Public-Access (Open Channel) Radio & TV just as much as Open Source software and such, as they have a lot in common: Share the media!

"De Hoeksteen Live!" is the name of the program you were on, and it was very inspiring to have you as our guest. Thank you and all the best in Brussels!
