Since my nomination by the European Pirates as their candidate for the Commission Presidency after 2015, I have made my utmost efforts to be represented in each of those debates where European top-level politicians present their visions for the future.

En kollega till mig ordnade ett evenemang om lågprisflyg där han insinuerade att dessa skulle vara pirater. Jag kände givetvis att jag behövde försvara piraternas intellektuella och politiska heder, och skickade därför till alla kollegor följande meddelande:

The Data Retention Directive has been torn up! While normal friends of human rights from both left and right celebrate, and telecom operators count their savings and better profit margins, the police is worried. Because it is of course so that the lack of data retention, just like the preservation of net neutrality, will benefit child pornography.

Datalagringsdirektivet är upprivet! Medan vanliga människorättsvänner från vänster och höger jublar, och telekomoperatörerna räknar på sina besparingar och nya ljusare vinstmarginaler, oroar sig polisen. Givetvis är det nämligen så att bristen på datalagring, precis som bevarandet av nätneutralitet, kommer att gynna barnporren.

The text that authorises the automatic storage of all electronic communications of everyone in Europe for a certain period of time, in order to make it possible for law enforcement bodies to access electronic information for detecting and prosecuting criminal offences, has been declared invalid by the European Court of Justice. The reason is that such storage enables the blanket mass surveillance of every citizen in the EU in an unnecessary and disproportionate way, without being based on a proper suspicion of criminal behaviours.

Jag fick en förfrågan från en firma som arbetar med det danska insamlingssällskapet KODA att ge min syn på den kommande upphovsrättsreform. KODA är motsvarigheten till svenska STIM, eller kanske SAMI.

Eftersom jag ogärna vill diskutera med insamlingssällskapen i hemlighet så frågade jag om jag får publicera min svar. Det förklarade den vänlige herren från Leadagency att jag fick :-) (tack för det!)

Many people have probably noticed I take issue with the Commission's proposal for a Connected Continent. Choosing the strictest tool available to the Union harmonization endeavours, a regulation, the Commission proposes a wide range of wild proposals which completely over-turn most telecommunications decisions made by the European Parliament in the 7th legislature up until this point, and fails to protect net neutrality by calling for something which can only be interpreted as a Return of the Minitel.

Konkurrensrätt är ett verktyg för att straffa företag som begränsar konkurrens. Den uppstod på 1800-talet för att det visade sig att företag inte föredrar konkurrens. Företag har som främsta mål att tjäna pengar, och man tjänar mer pengar om man själv kan sätta priser hur man vill och slipper förhålla sig till konsumenternas möjligheter att välja en billigare produkt.
